Becoming a mother changed the way I look at everything. Small children treat the most ordinary objects as if they were impossible, and that is close to what I try to do when I paint. I take a real thing, render it exactly as it is, and set it somewhere it could never belong. My children are the biggest part of my life now, and most of the work begins with them. I still travel, still drawn to odd, far-off places, but the strangest things I find are usually at home.
I paint ordinary objects into impossible places.
Surreal by setting, not distortion. I render each thing exactly as it is, then move it somewhere it could never belong.
An original painting, or a print and object that carries it.
